Our final field trip of the 2024-2025 school year was to the 402nd Military Police Battalion Open House. 4 Osceola JAG students joined other JAG students in getting hands-on experience in careers related to the Military, Law Enforcement, and Fire & Rescue. Students were able to:
- View and hold weapons, and sit in vehicles used by the Military
- View Fire & Rescue fire truck and rescue boat
- Experience using a taser through virtual reality simulation and learning how a taser works
- View and use night vision goggles and a thermal detector
- View, hold, and learn through a riot demonstration
- Hear from speakers in each field being represented
- Learn about the benefits of the military
- See a therapy dog
- Try on a hazmat suit
After lunch, students got to attend a career fair as well, giving the students opportunities to ask questions and take any resources that will help them in their future planning. Here is a quote from one of the students who attended, “This field trip is my favorite so far. They just keep getting better and better!” 😊

Today, JAG students were able to tour Kawasaki Motors and learn about the different jobs people can be hired for in their line of work and learned about the efficiency needed to run a successful manufacturing facility.
We got to participate in 2 different types of tours. The first tour was of the consumer-products side, including all-terrain vehicles, utility vehicles, and recreational utility vehicles production, including assembly, painting, welding, and material handling. We got to see first-hand how much attention to detail is needed for this job. Kawasaki has their own museum of the consumer-products they have built over time, which displays 1 of just about every product they have built since they were established many years ago. We also got to go on a rail car tour, which included viewing the production of passenger rail cars including assembly, fabrication, wiring, and welding. These rail cars are specifically made for the NYC subway system! We also got to see their training/assessment area that potential employees & students can practice and show their skills and knowledge with.
This is a fantastic option for students looking to work in the trades and provided valuable insight into what Kawasaki can do for potential employees. We can’t wait to continue partnership with Kawasaki and appreciate the many staff members who took time out of their day to share information with us, walk us around the buildings, and answer our many questions!
